Happy 10th birthday to you Wellington 7s, happy birthday to you. With festive scenes, bizarre reunions between superman and a monk- Wellington has it all.

Known for genuine art, cultures and café life, Wellington is a buzz at the moment as the 7s are about to kick off. Walking the streets people are in costumes ranging from fairytale to outback farmer & aliens. The main reason is to soak up sun and enjoy the fastest and most entertaining rugby- 7s. It is this code of 7 men against 7 men that suits the Oceania build and here to compete from our region are NZ, AUS, Cook Islands, Fiji, Samoa, Tonga & Niue.

Yesterday we were privileged to be inside the Cooks environment for the blessing of today’s match jerseys. A great mix of Island humour, religion and good will was passed on to the boys by their minister and elders. In a moving ceremony, proud moments of the past were shared and they hope the Cooks will indeed be cooking in this stadium. Why not they said quite calmly, last year they toppled England in pool play & it is hard to argue with that.

Looking at a wider view of the teams, there is some raw power from South Africa and New Zealand. They walk around and the 20 feet area from them is a maze of hype, with fans wanting a piece of them and officials organizing their busy lives and training.

The sun is out, herds of people are streaming into the Cake Tin- stadium and this site will bring you all the images and news of the Island boys.
