As they say a good game is a fast game, this is exactly what you get in Sevens, especially in Wellington!

The fast paced and exciting brand of rugby we call Sevens, has rolled into Wellington. In true tradition this entire city greats the IRB Sevens Series like no other place in the galaxy. New Zealand’s capital absolutely laps up the rugby, and the festive theme ignites a party for all, out come brilliant costumes and of course awesome rugby.

Day 1 has kicked off and the teams from Oceania are in abundance, NZ, Australia, Samoa, Tonga, Fiji and PNG are all gunning to make our region proud.

Looking at the teams, NZ and Samoa have been hot and must be contenders here. Fiji is a bit like the weather, you never really know if it is rain or shine with them, however on their day they are world beaters and all teams will be cautious of the threat.

Tonga play with passion and grit, they fear nobody and thump anything with vigorous tackles. They will take a bit of time to warm up to this frantic pace, but by the end of day one and coming into day 2 they will be dangerous.

The under the radar job will be PNG, they are hardly known, but man they have a heart size like a basketball and will give it a crack. Running onto the pitch they don’t look much in physique, but by tackle one the opponents know they are made of something tough.

The last on the Oceania menu is Australia; they have been the big risers in World Sevens and have already laid down the challenge today, dismantling Tonga 47-7 in their first trot.

As the games unfold we will bring you the latest images and news of the boys from Oceania.
