The Fiji Warriors have marched into the IRB Pacific Rugby Cup final with a commanding 40-15 win over the Tauuta Reds.

Tonga over the past few years has not been a good rugby hunting ground for many visiting Fiji rugby teams, but today the Warriors set Teufaiva Stadium, Nuku'alofa alight. The first 40mins was a real test & both sides were sinking into each other in an entertaining encounter, the second half rang a different tune as the team from Fiji hit the turbo button that has been missing this season and won well.

The Reds hooker Tone Tukufuka scored a try after 25 minutes to spark the game to life after they were trading penalties, four minutes before the break mobile Warriors number 8 Rupeni Nasiga dotted down to create rugby fever & have them both sides fans on the edge of their seats. With Pacific games come Pacific crowds and the cheers and dancing at half time ignited what was about to come in part 2 of this wonderful match.

Having on paper so much talent, the Fiji Warriors have not fired as they could and maybe should have. With national coach Illy Tabua making the trek over to Tonga too, his ten cents worth and a lot of hurt of letting potential wins off the hook this season made them strong today.

In the end the second half had them and them alone written all over it, they nailed 4 tries and showed a lot of class, pace and strength along the way. Centre Ropate Ratu continued his remarkable try scoring ability this year with another with 8 minutes to go.

The Warriors will leave Tonga on a high, they have reached a lot of their potential and the mouth watering thought of them playing Upolu Samoa next week is real. Their last tussle came down to the last minute and both these teams deserve to be in the Pacific Rugby Cup final.
