finals day_samoa Tahiti 4Samoa must have been angry after losing 2 games in the Oceania under 19s championship and they unleashed against Tahiti posting 101 points to nil.

Today was Samoa's day and their attack just kept coming in waves, every big beast had many more big guys not far away just hanging out for the pass to cause trouble. Credit must go to Tahiti though as at times they put in some marvellous D to stop the huge Samoan's in their tracks.

Relentless extreme was what Samoa served up today and forwards and backs were eager to hold the ball and show their skills. What little ball Tahiti managed to scavenge they were tackled and then mauled in the tackle area, Samoa's # 6 Falemiga Selesele , captain and # 7 Talalelei & # 8 Roma Leuluaailii absolutely hunted today. After they threw the man into the ground they simply helped themselves to the precious ball.

Sniffing trouble Samoa's front row decided to rip into it to, they started pick and goes to devastating effect and bulldozed around the try zone for more points. Try as they did Tahiti was always on the back foot. It is hard to believe that you can lose by 101 points and play well, but they did. They never gave up, ran back to half way time and time again and gave it another shot. In particular their number's 6 Guillaure Deverre, 15 Tanoa Toofa did a serious amount of tackling.

There is only one way to get better in rugby and that is to play top teams, Tahiti have done this and will have learnt a lot and this young rugby nation will be stronger from this and showed glimpes of what we can look forward to in the coming years.

Samoa will be bitterly dissappointed they lost to Tonga and Fiji, the pacific pride will be dented from this but again next year is another year and this team has the size and skill to come back with vengence.
