The tournament favourites have emerged unscathed after the first round of competition in the 2010 Oceania Sevens.

Australia, Samoa, Cook Islands and Niue all won their opening clashes but the script is far from written in this tournament with some impressive first round performances from the losing teams.

Tonga looked particularly impressive going down to Australia by two tries to three and Papua New Guinea, the surprise packets of the 2009 Tournament, gave reigning IRB Sevens World Series Champions Samoa a tough game before eventually going down 7-24.

Round 2 commences shortly with Niue taking on PNG.
