Lae, the second largest city in Papua New Guinea and the Capital of the Morobe province, has a vibrant rugby community and last week, a group of over 30 coaches participated in an IRB Level 2 Coaching Course. 

The IRB level 2 coaching course focuses on the following aspects of the game:

  • Principles of Attack and Defence
  • Key factor analysis of individual, mini, sub-unit and unit skills
  • Relationship between key factor analysis and the principles of attack and defence
  • Practise and planning
  • Risk Management and ethics
  • Role of the coach
  • Communication
  • Child and adolescent growth and development
  • Laws of the game
  • Fitness

Over 2 days the enthusiastic coaches, who arrived via foot, car, bus and boat, were exposed to the detailed curriculum delilvered by warren Robilliard and Mark Philp from Australia.
