The final matches of the first round saw some big scores with Tonga defeating Vanuatu 52-0, Papua New Guinea beating Tahiti 40-0 and Samoa defeating Niue 31-5. Australia finished their first day with a tough 19-7 win over a determined Cook Islands outfit.

The results set up an intriguing final day of competition tomorrow in Darwin.

Samoa start the day against Vanuatu, followed by a massive fixture between Papua New Guinea and Cook Islands. Niue take on Tonga in the 3rd match of the day and Australia finish the next round against Tahiti.

Whilst all eyes will be on Samoa and Australia there is simialr interest in the race for places on the Wellington, Adelaide and Hong Kong legs of the 2010/11 IRB Sevens World Series with Tonga, Papua New Guinea, Niue and Cook Islands all staking their claim for a shot on the big stage.
