The Oceania Rugby U20 Championship was introduced in 2015 as a key aspect of the regional high performance pathway for age grade teams. Eligible teams include teams competing at the World Rugby U20 Championship and invitational teams preparing for the World Rugby U20 Trophy. The Oceania Rugby U20 Championship replaces the previous Oceania Rugby U19 Championship.
The Oceania Rugby U20 Championships has been held at Bond University and hosted by Rugby Australia since inception. Australia and New Zealand have featured in each instalment of the Championship joined by Samoa, Fiji and Tonga over the past four years.
The Oceania Rugby U20 Championships are traditionally held during April - May ahead of the World Rugby U20 Championships in June.
