There are a lot of things that take 10 minutes, a shower, a walk to the shop, a chat to a friend on the blower and the extra sleep in you have courtesy of snooze after the morning alarm goes off. Today 35,000 things happened in 10 minutes and that was the selling of every one of the tickets for this fantastic event.

Hong Kong, probably the most renowned Sevens tournament on the circuit, pulling in 120,000 sell-out crowd each year over its three days it is the pinnacle of 7s. Wellington 7s is relatively new and is fast becoming a contender for the title as & King venue, they seat 34,000 and 31,000 of them are in outstanding costumes for the party of their lives watching the games. As a taxi driver said, "If you get bored you can always watch the game". Wellington is alive and pandemonium galore ads spice to an already unreal mixture.

From humble beginnings this event has transformed the game and the flow on effect has captured fans, got new countries into rugby and entertained millions in the process. If you catch it on Tv, or even better are lucky enough to be at the world stadiums live, this game grabs you with both hands and takes you for a ride. Attack attack attack is the key and to do this you need fitness, fitness, and fitness.

7s is quite simple, 7 guys play 7 guys for 7 minutes. This on paper seems quite a short time, but when you see these guys in the flesh the fitness required is mind blowing. To get you in the groove of just how hard this is, imagine if you sprinted from your house to the nearest corner store, how knackered would you be? Now turn around straight away and run home again, that is all a grand total of 3 minutes & now you require about 25 minutes to recover.

Wellington as a city has bought into rugby full-steam, the city embraces the game, the people that come to watch it and they put on a carnival environment for all visitors that make the trek to the capital city of New Zealand. If you ever needed an excuse to see NZ, or visit Wellington this is it! The Wellington 7s are a dream to see.

Now the challenge is to get a ticket, teams have to be creative on the field, now it is up to us to get creative off the field to get there. Ring your rugby clubs, call through your family tree to see if any of them have spare tickets, write for your local newspaper and get a media pass, do something to be there!
