Tau'uta plays its Final Match in Round 5.

Drawing close to the end of the PRC Cup competition for 2008 Tau'uta Reds will play there final match here in Teufaiva Park on Friday 16th of May. Last year was a successful year for the Tau'uta Red but some how their start this year was very disappointing losing their first game to the defending Champions 'Upolu Samoa. They also suffered from their first time lost to the Tautahi Gold team and missing out on a crucial bonus point when they miss a conversion in front of the goal post. After their first two losses in a row they were determined to regroup and start over. It seem like they had it right against the Fiji Baba but suffered from a late try and cost them that game.

It seems like all hope had gone down the drain before going in to Round 4. With the convincing win against the Fiji Warriors coming from behind to win that game was a great achievement for the boys. "We still have a change to show how great our team can be". Sione Fetuani Tau'uta Reds. They will plays there last game for sure this weekend and the focus for the Tau'uta Reds is to finish 2008 on a high note going after Savai'i Samoa who are here to secure a spot on the Final.

This match is a do or die for the Savai'i Samoa team a win will secure them a final spot and a loss will see them out of intention. Savai'i Samoa have high hopes but still have to jump over the last heddle this weekend.

SAVAII SAMOA
20080512 semi setiti storyStan To’omalatai will be travelling with his side to Tonga confident, this week, after a thrilling victory against fellow countrymen at Apia Park last week. The less fancied Savaii Samoa side showed plenty of spirit against the Star studded Upolu outfit, and were rewarded, courtesy of a last minute try by Manu Samoa Captain Semo Sititi. “ It was great to cross that line , and to be part of the Pacific Rugby Cup action” says a Sititi. “ I was surprised with level of intensity during the game, and will be looking forward to the Reds this week”.  Savaii Samoa were able to dominate their counterparts up front, which paved the way for an upset win. “ We wanted this badly, and that was the difference between the two sides” said Stan To’omalatai, head coach for Savaii.

However, like Upolu Samoa, To’omalatai will travel to Tonga without Key forward No.8 Alafoti Faosiliva, who has been a revelation for Savaii from the back of the scrum. Reupena Levasa who has been dangerous for Savaii at centre, will also not be travelling to Tonga. Both players will be flying out to London with the Samoa 7’s team for the IRB Sevens Series. To’omalatai is confident however, that his younger charges will do the job against the Reds at Teufaiva this week.” This is what  Rugby is all about, It’s about making the most of your opportunities, and having to cope with these circumstances as a coach, the players will be ready” To’omalatai will have some comfort however, with Semo Sititi in the team, who will be invaluable for the younger players. “The Reds at home will be very tough, will can’t afford to lose focus against them, as they will try to intimidate us with their physical play, which has been their trademark this year ” says To’omalatai. “ But, like last week, the team that wants it ( win ) the most will be rewarded”. A win for Savaii Samoa at Teufaiva will put them in stead for a final berth, should Upolu Samoa beat Tautahi Gold in Samoa.

Savaii Samoa will face a daunting task against the Tauuta Reds at Teufaiva Stadium this week, who will be playing for pride this weekend at home and will be wanting to finish their Pacific Rugby Cup campaign with a win against the Samoans.

Like Apia Park , Teufaiva Stadium in Tonga will be the sight for the first battle between two rival nations this week.
