‘PNGRFU want to grow the women’s game and with Sevens rugby now a recognised Olympic sport it provides further opportunities for our aspiring women athletes to represent PNG on the world stage’ said PNGRFU General Manager, Simon Kerr.
He added that the women’s game has enormous potential in PNG due to its fast and entertaining format and is encouraging other local unions to look at ways to develop and grow the game.
PNG Rugby would like to thank the ARU for the invitation to participate in the tournament and hopes these opportunities will continue into the future.
The Australian Rugby Union’s inaugural National Women’s Rugby Sevens Championship will run from Saturday 14 to Sunday 15 April in Sydney.
