Fiji claim Gold in Women's final of 2011 Pacific Games
Fiji has scored an emphatic 41-7 win over Samoa to claim Gold in the Women's final of the 2011 Pacific Games in Noumea this evening.
Ana Roqica scored a hat-trick of tries in the final to lead the Fijiana in an commanding performance over fierce rivals Samoa. In all, Fiji scored 7 tries to Samoa's one to record a famous victory. Earlier in the evening Papua New Guinea defeated the hosts, New Caledonia 19-5 to win the Bronze medal - a result they will be dissappointed with given their stunning display at the 2010 Asia Pacific Women's Sevens tournament in Borneo last October where they finished second.
Samoa, Papua New Guinea and Cook Islands now head to the 2011 Asia Pacific Women's Sevens Tournament in Borneo later this month where they will take on the top Asian Sevens sides.
